In the March/April issue of SALTSCAPES Magazine the Cape Breton Center for Craft and Design has placed an ad for their gallery shop and guess what? They used a section of one of my Sea to Shore quilted landscapes as their background! The Center has a beautiful gallery and shop and I'm thrilled that they chose a piece of mine to be included in the add. :)) The Center has a beautiful new website, check it out here.

Re-Design Sea to Shore
With the Acts coming soon and the need to re-visit some design issues with my Sea to Shore line I've done some work and here are the results.
I've added a smaller item to the line. A single panel that is 4"x10" and it has it's own easel back that folds down and is working really well. It was suggested that I needed a smaller price point and I hope this fill the bill.
I've also re-designed the triptych. I've had trouble with the stability of the twigs that were the support I was using. Now things are much more simplified. No twigs , the panels are just sewn to each other. They are much more stable and still fold up. Over all it is a very contempory design and I think it should work with the style of the line.
I've also revisited the lanscapes I was doing. I narrowed the designs down to three different ones and added more sizes to expand the price points.
Here's the first one called Lobster Fishing.
The second is called Sail Away

The third and final is Autumn

So there you have it. The singles all have their own easel and now there are 3 different sizes. Hope they're all well received this coming summer.

NSDCC Craft Show
It's been a terrible long time since my last post but we all know what this time of the year is like and here is one of the reasons I've been so busy.
This is a picture of my booth at the NSDCC show. It was my first time at this show. It's a bit of a distance from my home town, over a 4 hour drive but it was soooo worth it! I think I've found a better market for all my products I think, simply due to the fact that it is a bigger city and everything that goes with that is good for sales.
My booth had two different personalities. This photo is of my landscape I do inspired by living here on Cape Breton Island. These items have all been doing really well at the local galleries where the tourists shop.
This side of the booth was all my accessories and they did very well as gift items.
These are some of my journals which did extremely well and there are some quilted floral brooches at the top.
This is my lady which I dressed up in a scarf and brooch. I decorated her as well as the whole booth with some sinamey ribbon. It was incredibly easy to use and looked great for the holiday season, although lime green and fuchsia aren't traditional I thought they were perfect!
I met a lot of great people and I'm definitely going back next year even to the summer show.

My First Line
I thought I'd show you my first line that I developed for sale. I did some thinking about what might sell well. I want to do what I love but I'm in the predicament right now that the reality of making a living is very important, luckily I think I've come up with something.
I'm calling this line From Sea to Shore. The main piece is the wall hanging in the photo below which I'm doing in 3 different sizes ( in the hopes of having a price point for every pocker book).
I've taken the basic design and continued with other items, the next photo is a triptych. The photo can be deceiving, it stands just 12 inches tall. My fav bit about this design are the twigs used for the structure, adds a little bit of nature to the piece.
And finally notecards. I thought these would be a good bet for tourists and also a good lower price point. These are fabric collage, the same design but much simplified.
I've started out doing the design in two different color ways, blue or green. I'm very fortunate to have my work in three different galleries here on Cape Breton Island ( and soon one in Halifax :))), all consignment of course.
Cross fingers for me!
